Lili’s Story
Hello beautiful human, it’s Lili here, welcome :)
I wanted to give you an idea of who we are, and what we are about, so here goes.
When I hear the word Coach, I picture someone stern, maybe someone who yells at me to make me train hard. That’s not really something I want.
Since I’ve been a child, I have wanted encouragement and exposure to wisdom worth learning. And I wanted help with my fears, someone to bring out the potential inside me.
My life is a story of a coin with two sides.
On one side of the coin, I come from a humble immigrant family that migrated to the US in 1990 with two suitcases and nothing else, and I was fired from my first job! I’ve gotten some pretty tough feedback over the years, and have felt imposter syndrome throughout my career. In my 30s, I suffered an accident on a plane while sitting next to my toddler, that led to a serious brain injury, and I lost my ability to read, listen, and walk on the street. Heavy glass fell out of the overhead compartment and landed on my head.
On the other side of life’s coin, my first career was as a teenage National Chess Champion (think Queens Gambit!). I was a nerdy academic and studied at Oxford, Yale, and Harvard, graduating with a PhD in political science and decision-making from Harvard. And I have been lucky to have experienced an incredibly successful and diverse career as a global leader across academia, the social sector, BCG (management consulting), and large multinationals where I led product and strategy and growth, and I have both founded startups and scaled up high-growth tech scaleups. In 2023, I was named Australia’s Female Fintech Leader of the Year, and have won awards for building incredible cultures while driving hypergrowth.
Though it was only 7 years ago, it seems like a lifetime ago now – I remember shifting my lens from being depressed and being a victim after my brain injury, to a new lens where “everything was a bonus”. Recovery was a bonus, whatever the ups the downs. Discovering that my heart is more powerful than my brain in leading myself and other people was a bonus. Finding my own purpose in lifting people up and helping people, organisations, and systems rise to their potential was a bonus. Whether it’s bringing people together to achieve great things when I’m in the seat of a leader, or coaching people and teams to reach new heights, I see and unlock potential beyond people’s own self-belief. Life since my injury has truly been a bonus.
The way I see it, business and life is a hero’s journey, with big dreams, equally big failures, tough decisions, and epic personal growth. Courage and love are superpowers I have grown during my journey. I have absolutely slogged it to succeed in many sectors and recover from challenges one after the other. And it blows my mind that I’m here, that my brain is back, and that I get to help people in their hero’s journeys.
Business to me is human. You only get hyper growth when you humanise it. It is people that come together to achieve great goals. To scale a business is to scale its people and their mindsets, habits, and capabilities (as well as process and infrastructure), in order to get to the next level of team performance. In my business, I continue to learn and make mistakes every single day and lean into courage when I feel scared.
I see you, all that you have given, all that you have put in - all that grit, all that determination, and some pain too. I know first hand that building a business is tough and is a choice that we question sometimes. I support you in that choice - there is no need for you to carry the weight alone. You will get where you want to go faster with the right injection of support.
What do we stand for?
We stand for courage and wisdom.
Working with me and my team is about growth and ease. Growing your business, and growing the ease with which your team can get to where you need to go. It’s also a personal journey of growth, because only when we change what we do each day, will we see different results. It takes vulnerability and courage to change and improve.
Don’t continue the same path if it is not taking you where you want to go. Take the grind out of your business and bring a system in that will make things easier. Be open to what you can learn.
The Metronomics system and playbook is reliable, and has successfully scaled thousands of companies across the globe. It is designed for driving high growth, to 10x valuation in 3 years, and to grow top line revenue at least 30% year-on-year, and increase cash flow by 1-2x. Some clients are growing as fast as 200% to 300% year-on-year, and it’s essential to put a system in so the wheels don’t fly off and the team doesn’t burn out. Others have stalled in their growth and know they need to do something different to get better results.
After implementing Metronomics, Your team will always be aligned on what to focus on, in order to put more cash in the bank and to hit our growth goals.
You will develop the consistency and the disciplined execution and leadership habits that gives confidence, to your team, your stakeholders, and prospective investors and future buyers.
You will build a team that is truly cohesive, and working with a humming team becomes a joy, not a slog.
You can rely on a system that gives a clear playbook for each stage of scaling across people, strategy, execution, and cash. Trial and error or more hard work isn’t the answer. Seek wisdom and find a different path.
You can get your life back, and your calm back. More time for your relationships, for family and friends. More time to grow in the ways you need to, to help your business grow.
The cost of inaction is usually much higher than we want to admit. Getting a coach isn’t indulgent. It’s courageous. If we can establish clear ROI, for example adding at least $1m of value to you in your first year, you might become a client.
My favourite things about Coaching businesses (and social sector organisations):
People who build companies and organisations are amazing people. People on leadership teams are amazing people.
We get vulnerable and courageous with the teams we coach. We overhaul their business and rewire what we do each day and week, and forge a new path together.
The feedback is amazing, and my favourite part is that it’s all real. No overnight success stories, no pretending that implementing a system to grow is easy. Real people, real growth, real results, that come from doing the useful work - inner work, outer work, and work across our teams and our business.
I love being able to be myself, balancing rigor and discipline with compassion and emotional insight. I love deeply seeing people and identifying the key thing that needs to be unblocked. And when people try new methods and processes and ideas that might be outside of their comfort zone, seeing when it surprises them and when they love it - that’s pure joy.
I love that I can be me, my imperfect, brave, scared, hopeful, optimistic self, and people can relate to it. My aim is not to selling you coaching. My aim to change lives and unlock freedom and impact for you and your team.
If you could use help on anything, or if you have any questions about anything we do, please get in touch or attend the next CEO Workshop.
A toast to courage and wisdom and the growth journey,
Lili
